The Paranoid Parents

I drove for the first time yesterday.

Actually, that's a lie. I drove last weekend to my cousin's house a mere 5 minutes from my house. I was fine then. I had my father in the car with me. He kept freaking out that I was driving 70 kph. Freaking out until I pointed to the sign that clearly indicated "Maximum Speed 70 kph". Sigh. Parents.

Anyway, yesterday I had to whine and beg (yes, it's unattractive at my age) my folks to use their car to go to CinderHella's surprise birthday party. I felt like I was sixteen years old again. My parents are still very frightened at the thought of me driving again. It's been a full month since the accident, and frankly I'm fine driving-wise. I've been through some scary stuff in life, and so I acknowledge that the accident was just that; an accident.

Meanwhile, I think my folks would love it if I lived in a little bubble for the rest of my life. Life does go on. I might as well get on with it.

FYI. The driving was fine. I even drove past the stretch of highway where I had my collision. I was neither scared nor worried. It was quite a relief to get it over with. As far as I can tell, I haven't been scarred. Now, I'm just wiser and safer about my driving decisions.

See, I did grow up just a little. But only just a little!
