The Invasion of the Body Snatchers

WTF?

Who stole my father and replaced him with a pod person?

I haven't been home very much lately and this weekend, I haven't been sleeping at home either. I just dropped by the house to quickly freshen up and pickup some more clothes when my father stopped me.

Reese puts on her shoes and heads for the door.

Dad: Oh? You're leaving again?
Reese: Yes. By the way, I'm not going to be home tonight so don't worry. What time do you want to have Father's Day lunch tomorrow?
Dad: (passive aggressively) Oh, whatever you want. Whatever makes you happy.
Reese: Okay, how's 1pm tomorrow? I'll be back for lunch.
Dad: Sure. (immediately getting a thought) Wait, don't go yet. (urgently) I have to get something.

Dad runs off, and quickly returns out of breath holding his SLR camera.

Reese: (surprised) Um, Dad. What's that for?
Dad: I want to take your picture. (pause, emotionally) I miss you.
Reese: Okaaaayyyy, buuuut...

Dad clicks while Reese is in mid-phrase. Reese sighs, picks up overnight bag and starts to leave. Dad runs over and gives Reese a big bearhug.

Reese: Yes, yes Dad. I have to go. I love you too. I'll see you tomorrow.

Dad reluctantly lets go. Reese leaves.
I found this whole experience, while touching, very strange. My father NEVER hugged me growing up. He was Mr. Non-Emotive. Funny how our relationship is mutating at a rapid pace.
