The Peace Offering

After a lovely breakfast, and an awesome weekend together, FoxyLady dropped me off at home in time to have Father's Day lunch with my family. It was nice to just book time with my folks and just enjoy each other's company. We managed to avoid all topics of conflict, which made me extremely happy and finally comfortable to be around them for a change.

Once lunch was over, my folks decided to go on a "date" and see a movie together. I was dropped back at home to finally get some rest, and take care of household chores. Even though we were only apart for 5 hours, I invited FoxyLady over again to just hang out with me while my folks were out. Don't worry gentle reader, none of the previous "out-inducing" shenanigans would manifest themselves here. She brought over her XBox and we played video games together. Yeah, we're both geeks like that.

Having her over like that was also strategic on my part. We both knew that my folks would come home while she was here. We both knew that it could potentially be a bad scene. I just wanted to know how ready they were, and how much of my personal space they'd respect. I didn't want to live my life in fear and shame. She agreed to see how far we could push my parents' comfort levels. I looked at her and said, "Are you ready for this, because if you're not, just say so and I'll understand." She just smiled and me and replied confidently, "Why not?" My heart warmed for I had a wiling partner-in-crime. Excellent!

My folks came home. They both clued in slowly that the girl in my room playing video games was "that girl". My mom even confronted me about it when FoxyLady wasn't in the room.

Mom: (with measured calm) Reza, is that the same girl?
Reese: (distractedly playing game) Yes, Mom.
Mom: (with a threatening tone) I don't want what happened last time to happen again, do you understand?
Reese: (annoyed, still playing game) Yes, Mom, of course.
Mom: (pause, sweetly) So, do you want me to order you two pizza?
Reese: (stops game playing, and looks at Mom shocked) Uh. Pizza? Um, no, that's okay. We already had dinner. But thanks.

Mom leaves room.
Now, I'm not sure if my mother thinks that FoxyLady and I are just friends now, or whether she appreciates that I wouldn't mess around in her home while she's present, but regardless of the meaning, I appreciated the "peace offering". I am once again surprised by my parents. I don't know who they are anymore. This could be a good thing.
