The Productive Sick Day
I called in sick today, and I just couldn't leave well enough alone.
I awoke with a huge migraine and fatigue. After struggling to deal with my pain, I relented and went back to bed. After sleeping in a long while, I finally awoke, had food, and took pain meds.
Now, I don't know about the rest of you folks, but when I'm home on sick days, I always feel the intense feeling of guilt. It's probably because I was raised Catholic. (Don't you love how convenient my upbringing is for finding blame? Hee hee.) Anyhow, due to the overwhelming feelings of guilt, I typically find myself trying to be productive when I should be in bed recuperating. I have been known to have intensely high fevers and experiencing tremendous fatigue, and yet still manage to do several huge loads of laundry. Talk about warped thinking, eh?
Anyway, guess what Reese did today, while suffering through her headache? Well, I went about fixing that pesky lock on my bedroom door. I removed the wall plate, and using a chisel and hammer, pounded into the door frame to move the plate down 1/2 an inch. Just imagine: Reese with pounding headache, hammering into her door frame repeatedly.
It just goes to demonstrate what I value more at this moment. Privacy vs. Pain Relief? Privacy wins by a longshot!
So, now I have a lockable bedroom door again! Yay! I can always sleep off the pain.
