The Anger Stage

Normally when I go through breakups, the anger stage is my favourite stage.

It's the stage is when you can be particularly self-indulgent, and that usually means: Retail Therapy! I go shopping. Buy nice things. Get a whole new look. Feel sexy. Go drinking. And party hard. I also work out like a fiend, and go running until my body collapses from extreme fatigue. It's a sure-fire solution to slowly rebuilding oneself.

Unfortunately, I'm very broke right now, and although my knee is stronger, it isn't strong enough to pound the pavement with a running training schedule.

Instead, I find other outlets. My writing is always good therapy, but frankly, it's too passive and not physically motivating enough to get the rage out. So I need to look elsewhere.

I have a new love. I go karaoke!

I know, it sounds lame, but the other night I went out with friends and rented a karaoke room for several hours. I rocked out on classic anger songs from Alanis Morrisette, Avril Lavigne, and the like. It was great! I was screaming at the top of my lungs, with the music jacked loud, and my friends pumping their fists in the air. If only I could play a truly good air guitar!

Anyway, I'm using these same songs for my workouts to keep my motivated. So far I've got:

  • Losing Grip, Avril Lavigne
  • My Happy Ending, Avril Lavigne
  • Since You've Been Gone, Kelly Clarkson
  • Karma, Alicia Keyes
  • Fighter, Christina Aguilera
  • Are You Happy Now?, Michelle Branch
  • You Oughta Know, Alanis Morrisette
  • Last To Know, Pink
  • Don't Stay, Linkin Park
  • Somewhere I Belong, Linkin Park
  • Lying From You, Linkin Park

I need more inspiration. Do you guys have some recommendations for me? Send them in your comments to me... free therapy!
