The Chase
Tonight I sat in on a kali class with the Kali de Leon school. They have a procedure where prospective students much watch one class, and be interviewed before they accept you into the school.
Well tonight was my "viewing" appointment. It was interesting because at that session it was all men. I made a mental note that I should invite all my single hetero female friends to come with me next time. Lots of cute, buff, eligible bachelors go to this class!
Anyway, right away I noticed that the guys were checking me out. I felt like a stranger who had intruded in their world. At first I felt out of place, and then I realized they were doing the stereotypical male thing: they were trying to show off. It's totally human nature. When being observed, you tend to show off a little.
At the half-way break time, one of the students approached me and introduced himself. Turns out he went to high school with my younger brother, and knew me by face. Weird how small the filipino community feels sometimes. Anyway, he offered me a ride home after class since he still lives near me. I thought: "Hey, free ride! Why not?"
Anyway, this dude now works for the Toronto Police, so I figured it was safe, and besides we had lots of witnesses, if he decided to go psycho on me. On the way home, we chatted, and got to know one another. It was nice. For a second there I thought: "He's cute, really nice, and OMG, am I going to the dark side?" Then I realized I was just appreciating being appreciated. I guess after a breakup, any attention is a nice boost to one's ego.
When we arrived in my neighborhood, we noticed a guy in a SUV driving erratically. He was driving like he was road raging. Anyway, Officer Gallant, threw his siren on top of his car and took chase! He said he couldn't have someone endangering other drivers like that, and so I was party to this night-time high speed chase in my own neighborhood!
Thankfully, it was only a thrilling 10 minutes long. We followed the guy to his home and Officer Gallant gave him a warning since he was on private property now, and he didn't have his ticket book on him. The guy was being a complete asshole and seemed the type to make a scene, so we backed off.
By the time Officer Gallant pulled into my driveway, he was completely apologetic since he realized that he put a civilian in a dangerous situation. It was quite cute. I KNEW he was showing off, and I KNEW he felt bad, but it was all too adorable to get upset over. I just kept thinking: "It's really too bad I'm gay..."
He gave me his business card and said he was looking forward to seeing me in class again. I gave him mine (as a courtesy), and said I hoped I would come back again. At that moment I wasn't quite sold on going to that school. But either way, I had a fun night. I figured it wasn't the time to out myself since I am not 100% sure of what his intentions were. He could have had completely platonic intentions! Besides, I'm sure he'd be an amazing catch for one of my single hetero girl friends!
I guess I'm back to my silly adventures again. Ha ha ha.
